Benjamin J. Berger
Benjamin J. “Buddy” Berger is a co-founder of Berger Harris. He has extensive experience in handling a variety of commercial real estate matters, including acquisitions, financing and leasing transactions. In addition to handling transactions at the “front end”, Buddy has handled a number of work-out and restructuring transactions for commercial office and retail projects. He represents local and regional developers, investors and business owners. He has frequently lectured for the National Business Institute on real estate topics, including commercial leasing and title issues.
Buddy recently acted as lead counsel on the sale of a 260,000 sq. ft. office building for $44 million in Wilmington, Delaware; as lead counsel for a landlord in the lease of a 125,000 square foot office facility; and handled the acquisition, financing and leasing of Silver Lake Office Park in Dover, Delaware. Conscientious of time and expenses, Buddy also helps his clients with debt restructuring, the resolution of partner, member and shareholder disputes, title and survey / boundary disputes, and contract and employment disputes including non-compete matters in the most productive and efficient manner.
In connection with his commercial and corporate law practice, Buddy frequently delivers legal opinions on behalf of Delaware limited liability companies. He has experience in handling the purchase and sale of businesses, including asset sales, stock purchases and mergers. He also has extensive experience in the title insurance industry. He has handled claims in closing behalf of national title insurance companies, and has acted as the title agent on many commercial acquisitions and financing transactions, including multi-state transactions.
Buddy was a judicial intern for the Honorable John L. Kane, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Throughout his career and prior to co-founding Berger Harris, Buddy worked with several large law firms including Riley Riper Hollin & Colagreco, Blank Rome, Klehr Harrison, Prickett Jones, Dilworth Paxson, and Richards Layton. He has been named a Best Lawyer in America in 2009, and listed by Chambers USA from 2003 through 2005. Since its inception in 1983, Best Lawyers has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence.
